The Chinese short video-making app TikTok has announced to make users see personalized ads on its platform from April 15, 2021.
The Indian government IT Ministry and Technology had announced the permanent ban on TikTok in last year June 2020 included 53 other Chinese apps which has relation with the Chinese Communist Party, China.
The app currently has a setting that allows users to choose whether they’ll be served ads based on their activity within the app.
According to the company, the users still have control over whether ads can be more tailored to them “based on data from our advertising partners”. The change in TikTok’s privacy setting reflects the way ads already operate on many other social media apps including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
In Tiktok, Users can see your setting will change into mandatory based on what you do on TikTok after 15 April. The change is related to Apple’s upcoming rollout of iOS 14, which will require developers to get user’s permission to track their data across apps for target advertising.
