Google announced Nearby Share feature coming to other OEM later this year

Google developed a feature called “Nearby Share” for Android is finally official. This feature which allows to share files to nearby devices in similar fashion as Apples Airdrop was announced today for Android devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and top.

In Android has never had a shortage of super-fast life sharing apps similar Nearby Share is a build-in feature that required no app and it is not manufacturer specific. This means that you can transfer to any Android devices in your home.

Google takes privacy seriously with nearby share. When you share files with a device, the information of both the sender and receiver is fully-encrypted. You an choose which devices can see you. You can allow all devices within range to see you or selected devices under your contacts. You can also choose to stay hidden.

It was also revealed that the feature will be coming to more operating system starting with Chromebooks and OEMs in a few months. Nearby features will be available on select Google Pixel, Samsung devices and OPPO Find X2 Series.

Others devices will get as soon as possible in the coming weeks. Your manufacture will pushed updates with latest security patch soon.
